About Negi
Negi consists of designers Gage and Michelle. Based on Oʻahu, we work with companies to shape thoughtful digital products, staying close from early ideas to what finally ships.
We’re in the weeds with you. We don’t hand off specs and disappear. We’re there in the early thinking, the small decisions, and the final stretch, helping your original idea hold together all the way through.
Outside of client work, we make and release our own tools, give , and help host community events. That work shapes our taste, keeps us curious, and helps us stay connected to the people and communities around us.
Much of our work comes back to 3 principles:
- Design for everyday life. We make tools that feel calm, useful, and considered.
- Carry the idea through. We work across product, brand, and execution so nothing gets lost between vision and what reaches customers.
- Leave room for play. We don’t think rigor and personality are opposites. The best work has both.

We work with startups, customer-facing products, and creative teams. Most projects span product and web design, and we collaborate closely with engineering from the earliest ideas through launch.
We don’t currently take on branding-specific projects, but if your design project includes some branding needs, we’re happy to explore how we can support them.
We typically work together in one of two ways depending on your product needs:
- : Best for projects with a defined scope, deliverables, or timeline. We’ll agree on the project cost upfront, with 50% due when the contract is signed and the remaining 50% due when the project is complete.
- : For teams that need ongoing design support, we join your team month-to-month and help with requests across our services as they come up. You’ll be billed at the end of each month.
Once we’ve aligned on scope, pricing, and logistics, we’ll kick things off by meeting your team, getting familiar with the project, and getting everything we need to start.
Then, we get to work! We’ll design alongside your team, sharing work early and often, gathering feedback, iterating, and keeping things moving until we ship something everyone can be proud of.
We mainly use Linear for project management; Notion and Slack for documentation and communication; Figma, Conductor, and Codex for design and development; and Inflight for reviews and feedback on live code. We’re also happy to work within your existing setup or help introduce new tools and workflows.
